Mark Love Plays Critical Role in the Search for a Local Missing Marine

An experienced finance professional, Mark Love serves as a partner with Goldmark Venture Partners in Scottsdale, Arizona. Outside of work, Mark Love is actively involved with his community through various philanthropic endeavors. Last year, he played an important role in the search for a local Marine who disappeared after leaving his Scottsdale apartment.

When the initial search for the Marine yielded no leads, Mr. Love helped coordinate a helicopter and other aircraft to expand the search aerially. This assistance in the search recognized the sacrifice the Marine made to the country through tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as time spent as a search-and-rescue diver.

The Marine left his phone, wallet, keys, and service dog at his apartment when he disappeared. After two weeks, the aerial search party was focused primarily on finding his vehicle, which would hopefully lead to more information on his whereabouts. The search also involved boats scanning area lakes. The aircraft identified several vehicles that were later searched on the ground level. While the Marine’s car was eventually found in early 2020, he remains missing.

Supporting the Loved Ones of Fallen Officers

Venture capital executive Mark Love has been active with several Arizona organizations that support law enforcement officers and their families. In addition to his decade-long membership with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Posse, Mark Love oversees fundraising events that provide financial support for families of officers killed in the line of duty.

According to the organization Fallen, nearly all fallen police officers have underage children at the time of their passing. While there are federal benefits for the dependents and spouses of fallen police officers, the process for filing and receiving these benefits can be complex and lengthy.

Families of fallen officers can face immediate financial hardship, including an inability to pay for daily expenses, funeral costs, and the cost of children’s schooling. Organizations for the families of fallen officers fill in the gaps by providing immediate financial assistance. These nonprofits may also provide emotional support for grieving families by setting up memorials or hosting holiday events.
